Instructions

    • 1

Buy an acrylic album to accommodate the amount of photos you hope to include. Although most are smaller than the traditional 12-inch by 12 inch size, they also typically have metal ring bindings that allow you to expand as needed.

    • 2

Gather all of your photos for the project before you start. Planning is the key to creating acrylic albums since you'll need to know what elements will appear on the front and back of the page to prevent the items from showing through. Organize your photos to decide which will go on what page.

    • 3

Choose coordinating cardstock and patterned paper to use throughout the scrapbook for a unified look. Double-sided patterned paper can do double duty by appearing on both sides of the acrylic page.

    • 4

Design your first layout, affixing the photos and paper with adhesive spray or liquid glue designed to help items adhere with little residue showing through the clear page. You can also use double-sided tape if you'll be covering that area with an element on the other side of the page.

    • 5

Create the layout on the other side, mirroring items so you won't be able to see the backsides of the photos and materials on the previous page. If accents (like paper flowers, buttons or chipboard shapes) are visible, however, they can add a sense of depth to both sides.

    • 6

Add journaling to a piece of cardstock or directly on the acrylic page itself with a special marker or letter stamps and solvent ink.

    • 7

Generate interesting effects by brushing the edges of the acrylic scrapbook pages with paint, solvent ink, glass paint or even heat embossing them with metallic powder. Stamping the pages with solvent ink before you add any photos or embellishments can also add cool dimension to the project.
