You can see God in anything as long as you are looking for Him.
You can see God in anything as long as you are looking for Him.

Do you ever wonder how others can talk about things God is doing in their lives and how He is leading them? Do you wish you could see God moving, even in the little things? A lot of it has to do with mindset. Having a Biblical mindset can change how you view everything. Let's look at how we can change our mindset to a more Biblical viewpoint.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bible
  • Time set aside for prayer and personal devotion
  • Ability to rethink how you think
  1. Step 1

Pray about it daily. Ask God to show you things He is doing. Pray for eyes to see and ears to hear Him. It is also important to ask God to have the Holy Spirit control your mindset and thoughts. (Romans 8:6 NIV "The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.")

  2. Step 2

Daily Devotions. If you do not know what God looks like, how will you see Him working? Study the characteristics of God and how He has shown Himself to others throughout the Bible. One of God's characteristics throughout the Bible is His sovereignty. Nothing happens by chance or coincidence.

  3. Step 3

Engage your brain. When you are talking to friends, family or even strangers, start asking and praying over questions like: Why am I here at this moment? Am I supposed to be learning or teaching? Should I share God's love through words or actions? When you start asking and praying over these questions, you begin to open yourself to be used by God; therefore, you will get to see His work firsthand.

Tips & Warnings
  • My dad refers to staying in a Biblical mindset as "keeping your antenna up." I think this is a good example of how we should look at things. If our antennas are down we will only get part of the picture, or it will be fuzzy. If our antennas are up, we can see the full picture for what it is meant to be.
  • This is just some of the ways to see God working. This list is not meant to be an all-inclusive list of ways to see God, just a suggested starting point.

on 6/11/2008 So true! It's so easy to get caught up in the day to day drudgery of life and forget that God is truly working in every moment.
