When creating or updating a website, Macromedia Flash is a useful tool to create a fresh and user-friendly layout. To customize the site, you can make a Flash button rather than use the premade buttons that other applications offer. Using Flash takes only a few steps to create a brand-new look for the website.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Open the Macromedia Flash application.

  2. Step 2

Click on "Flash Document" in the Create New section of the introduction screen once the application is open.

  3. Step 3

Select "Insert" from the main application, and then choose "New Symbol" from the Insert menu. You can also press Ctrl+F8 on the keyboard as a shortcut.

  4. Step 4

Choose the "Button" option from the Type section of Create New Symbol dialog box. To use an image of your own for this Flash button, select the "Browse" button from the Source section. Then click "OK" to open the new button.

  5. Step 5

Insert any text you want on the Flash button by selecting the text tool from the left menu panel. Then draw the text box on the button. Now type the text you want to appear on the button.

  6. Step 6

Fill in the color you want for the button by choosing the paint tool from the left menu panel. Then choose the correct color from the palette. Finally, click on the button surface to fill in the color.

  7. Step 7

Save the Flash button and use it to spruce up your website.
