1
Purchase your candle supplies. You can purchase two molds for the double-molded candle, or you can use two cans. One can should be smaller than the other and fit inside the larger can. You will use a can opener to remove the bottom of the can once the candle has set.
-
2
Prepare the smaller mold. Coat the inside with cooking oil to make it easier to remove the candle when it's cool. Set the wick in place.

3
Cut the wax block into small pieces. If you purchased wax chips, you don't have to cut the wax into little pieces. Put the pieces into the double boiler.
-
4
Heat the wax to the recommended temperature, which is usually around 175 to 185 degrees. Add fragrance to the wax (if you would like) and then a small amount of color. You can always darken the color, but it's hard to lighten it.
-
5
Pour the wax into the prepared mold. Make sure the wick remains in the center of the mold. Put more wax into the mold as the wax hardens to make sure you have a full inner candle. Let the wax set up.
-
6
Remove the mold from the inner candle. If you used an empty can, remove the bottom of the can with a can opener. Slide the candle out of the can.
-
7
Set the inner candle you just created inside the larger mold or can that you have prepared with cooking oil. Reheat the wax, or heat new wax and add a different color to it. Pour melted wax around and over the top of the inner candle. Make sure the wick stays extended. Let this wax cool, and remove the entire candle from the mold or can.
