A versatile wrestling move, the seatbelt single utilizes the opponent's weight and waist to gain the advantage. Remember to wear the proper padding when practicing or performing wrestling moves. Work out on a gymnastic pad or other soft padding to avoid injury. Below are guidelines to the correct execution of the seatbelt single.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin by holding your opponent in an underhook position. This means that your arms are locked around his torso underneath the arms. The knees are bent to throw the body weight into the move and maintain the position.

  2. Step 2

Raise your arms higher around your opponent's torso before slipping your hand down to your partner's waist. This area is the seatbelt. Grab firmly around your partner's lower torso. Concentrating your strength here will aid you in detaining your opponent since it is difficult to wiggle when someone is squishing you.

  3. Step 3

Tighten your grip on your partner's waist as you grab with your other hand onto your opponent's leg. Choose the one closest to your free hand and pull. Lift the leg into the air, throwing your partner off balance.

  4. Step 4

Move behind your opponent and use your right leg to attempt to trip him up. This means to sweep toward his far leg with your leg to attempt contact. Use enough force to throw your opponent completely off balance.

  5. Step 5

Grab your partner's hip and upper leg area as you both fall to the mat. You should be lying on top of your opponent chest to back.

  6. Step 6

Maintain your position for as long as it takes to gain points.
