Things You'll Need:
- Spare tire
- Auto jack
- Tool box

Step 1
Turn off the car, and make sure the vehicle is sitting on flat, solid ground.

Use an auto jack to raise the rear end of the vehicle about 2 feet off the ground.

Stand your spare tire upright next to your jack in the event of the jack failing.

Slide under your car with your tool box nearby.

Step 1
Use your wrench to loosen and remove the muffler clamp bolts.

Step 2
Separate the muffler joints. They will slide off if they are still in good condition.

Step 3
Remove any objects keeping the muffler still attached to the car.

Remove the old muffler.

Reattach any objects needed to keep the new muffler attached to the car.

Step 2
Position the new muffler correctly into place.

Step 3
Tighten the muffler by reattaching the muffler clamp bolts.

Check your work to see if any wires or cables are touching the new muffler.

Step 2
Start your engine, and check your car for any leaks.

Use your jack to lower the rear end of the car back onto solid ground.
