Hepatitis C home testing kits were approved by the FDA in the mid-2000s and are a good way for those who want to get tested for the virus to do so without visiting a doctor or a clinic. The Hepatitis C home testing kits are easy to use and come with either one or two home tests included in the packages.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open your Hepatitis C home testing kit and read the instructions thoroughly. Understand the particulars that might be specific to the brand of home testing kit that you have.

  2. Step 2

Pull back the sanitized tab on the swab and prick your finger with the needle provided. Place the blood immediately on the swab or testing strip.

  3. Step 3

Place the swab with your blood sample in the container provided and seal it.

  4. Step 4

Fill out the attached paperwork. Your Hepatitis C home testing kit can be an anonymous test. You will keep the code number that comes with your kit on hand, so you can obtain your results.

  5. Step 5

Place your sample in the mail to the lab. Wait about a week for the lab to get and process your sample.

  6. Step 6

Call the toll-free number provided with your kit and enter the code that coordinates with the sample you sent it. Your results are then available with that information privately and over the phone.
