Depending on your culture or where your family is originally from, fermented foods may or may not be popular or familiar to your diet. Fermented foods are good for you and can lead to a better and more healthy life. Fermentation of vegetables and fruits are known to fight off and treat many diseases.

  1. Step 1

    Eat homemade fermented foods such as cheese, yogurt, pickled vegetables and sauerkraut. The type you buy in the store are not truly fermented anymore.

  3. Step 3

    Improve the flavor and appearance of food by fermenting. The strong flavors of fermented food can enhance a boring diet. Fermented vegetables such as pickles, gundruk and sauerkraut often used to enhance or flavor a meal.

  4. Step 4

    Reduce the contamination by fermenting your food. The pickling or vinegar process will protect the vegetables for a longer period of time.

  5. Step 5

    Increase in the levels of vitamins in the final fermented product such as concentrated quantities of thiamin, nicotinic acid and biotin.

  • Don't seal the jars while food is still fermenting, as it will build up gas pressure.
