Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Select at least two different kinds of fleece material. Cut 50 squares of fabric that are 9 1/2 inches square. Pin 2 squares with wrong sides together. Sew an "X" from corner to corner. Make blocks in this way until you use all your squares.

  2. Step 2

Lay out the squares in the pattern you desire. Start by sewing 2 blocks together with a 1/2-inch seam. Continue sewing to create a row of 5 blocks. Repeat the process until all of your rows are complete. Always make sure you have a 1/2-inch seam.

  3. Step 3

Iron the seams open and then sew the rows together. Be sure you keep all of the seams on the same side of the blanket. To eliminate some of the bulk where the seams meet, you can fold one seam allowance one way and the other seam allowance the other way.

  4. Step 4

Stitch a 1/2-inch seam around the whole blanket. Snip around all the edges, making cuts about 1/2 inch apart, but make sure you don't cut into your sewing.

  5. Step 5

Wash and dry the fleece blanket. Now it's ready to keep a special baby warm.
