Parents have named the Boppy pillow the number-one baby product and with good reason. The Boppy pillow has a multitude of uses, from its most common function as a nursing pillow to pelvic support for sleeping moms. While you can buy replacement covers for Boppy pillows, crafty moms can save money and have fun by making them at home. Read on for simple instructions.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Choose a washable fabric you like. You can make your Boppy pillow cover out of one fabric or two. You'll also need a zipper, hook-and-loop tape or snaps as well as basic sewing supplies like a sewing machine, thread, a tape measure and scissors.

  2. Step 2

Download (see Resources) a pattern for a Boppy pillow cover, or make your own using your Boppy pillow. Lay your Boppy pillow on a sheet of paper and trace around it. Cut at least an inch beyond the line you drew to allow for a generous seam allowance.

  3. Step 3

Pin your pattern to your fabric (you'll need about a yard of fabric) and cut out enough fabric for both sides of the Boppy pillow. Again, you can use the same fabric for both sides of the pillow or two coordinating fabrics.

  4. Step 4

Place the two pieces of fabric right sides together and sew around most of the pillow. Leave the "U" part of the pillow open. This opening is where you will attach the zipper, hook-and-loop tape or snaps.

  5. Step 5

Attach a zipper, hook-and-loop tape or snaps to the fabric along the "U" part of the Boppy pillow. Then carefully insert your Boppy pillow into its new cover.
