You may be surprised to learn that there are rules of etiquette regarding the trading of business cards. Many people like to collect and trade business cards, as some people might do with baseball cards. When you trade cards, you should use business card trading etiquette so that you can get good cards in return also.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Keep your business cards stored safely, while they are sitting in your collection and traveling through the mail to another collector. You can find small coin envelopes at office supply stores that are the perfect size for business cards. Alternatively, you can store them in sleeves or other tools originally intended to store baseball cards.

  2. Step 2

Trade business cards that are in good condition. Keep the business cards that are dirty, have holes, creases, handwriting, staples or any other damage. Other collectors don't want them.

  3. Step 3

Be honest. If you arrange to trade 20 cards with someone, send them 20 cards. Likewise, if you arrange to trade only cards from a particular category, don't try to sneak in a card from the wrong category.

  4. Step 4

Exchange good quality cards. You want other collectors to view you as a good trader so that you will get good cards in return as well. Collectors like to have cards that are in perfect condition and brightly colored or attractive.

  5. Step 5

Remember to put enough postage on an envelope if you need to mail business cards to another collector so that the post office doesn't send it back to you. If you need to mail more than 20 cards in one envelope, you will probably need additional postage.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't trade plain black and white cards unless they have something interesting or humorous on them.
