Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pastry board
  • Rolling pin
  • Cookie sheet
  • Cookie Cutters
  • Thin red and green ribbon or yarn
  • Cinnamon
  • Applesauce
  • Glue gun
  • Miniature eyes, bells and other decorations
  1. Step 1

Mix together equal parts of applesauce and cinnamon. Continue mixing with your hands creating a moist dough ball. If the dough seems a little to moist to roll, add a small amount of cinnamon working it into the dough.

  2. Step 2

Place the dough ball on your pastry board. Use your rolling pin to roll the dough out into a pie shaped circle about 1/4-inch thick.

  3. Step 3

Cut each ornament with your favorite cookie cutters. Punch a small hole in the top of each of the cookies. Make sure the hole is large enough to fit a thin ribbon or yarn.

  4. Step 4

Place each of the cookies on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake on the middle rack of your oven at 325 degrees F until the dough becomes firm.

  5. Step 5

Remove the tray of ornaments from the oven and let them cool completely before removing them from the tray.

  6. Step 6

String the ribbon or yarn through each of the cookies and tie a small knot or bow to secure it for hanging.

  7. Step 7

Finish decorating each of the ornaments by gluing eyes and bells on all of the animals and use other miniature decorations such as colored balls and stars for the Christmas trees.

Tips & Warnings
  • Store ornaments in sealed baggies to keep the smell for the following year.
  • Rub a little cinnamon on your rolling pin to make the dough rolling easier.
  • Have fun and be creative with your ornament decorations.
  • Don't overbake as this will cause the ornaments to burn.
