Step 1
Perform a test before you use full body waxing, removing hair from a small area and waiting 24 hours to ensure there are no allergic reactions or hypersensitivity to the hair removal process. If you plan on getting professional waxing, you can go directly to the salon when you make your appointment. Most salons will be more than happy to perform the skin test to help you decide if the technique is right for you.

Step 2
Measure the hair you would like to remove, making sure that from roots to tips the hair is at least 1/8-inch long. For best results, wait until the hair reaches 1/4 of an inch to ensure that all of the hair is thoroughly removed.
-
Step 3
Wash and dry your skin before waxing to remove any creams, lotions and even natural oils which can prevent wax from reaching the roots of the hair. However, avoid showering, bathing or soaking, as water will soften the hair and make removal more difficult. It is best to wash with a clean cloth and pat dry so that your hair does not have a chance to absorb water.
-
Step 4
Apply body wax only to healthy skin, avoiding healing or recently healed wounds, moles, varicose veins, pimples warts, sunburns or otherwise irritated skin.
-
Step 5
Wait until your period starts before waxing, rather than removing hair right before your period when there are more hormones flowing through your body, making you more sensitive to pain. Additionally, premenstrual hormones can make hair more coarse than normal, causing it to break rather than come free from the root.
-
Step 6
Look fabulous in a bathing suit, but avoid the water, as hot tubs, chlorinated pools and salt water can all irritate your skin and cause rash in the 24 to 72 hours following waxing. Additionally, while many body waxing tips say that using lotions, astringents and other products can help to reduce irritation, it is best to avoid your regular beauty products for at least 24 hours.
-
Step 7
Wear loose fitting clothing over recently waxed skin to prevent irritation and ingrown hairs. Using a loofah to exfoliate waxed areas can help to prevent ingrown hairs as well.
