Whether you are looking for a new, romantic look for an evening out or want to permanently add curls to your hairstyle, ringlet curls can be a cute, unique way to add some excitement to your hair. Straight hair and naturally curly hair require different methods to achieve the Victorian look, but the end results can be just as provocative.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Consider the shape of your face and the rest of your hair before spending a lot of time and money getting ringlets put in your hair. Ringlets can look really fake if you try to add them to a straight hairstyle. While senior citizens often add ringlets to their short-cropped hair, the same close ringlets on a middle-aged woman may not achieve the affect you are looking for, especially if you have a fat face or a long narrow face.

  2. Step 2

Let your natural curls fall in ringlets when you put your hair up to give yourself a romantic flair. Consider the occasion before letting those springy curls emerge though. You could make a wrong impression in a business meeting if you don't tie back all your errant curls.

  3. Step 3

Try pin curls around your face if you want to achieve a 1940s style hairdo. These curls work best on short straight hair and can be worn all over the head. Take a strand of hair and wrap it sideways into itself until all the hair is coiled. Hold the coil with a bobby pin.

  4. Step 4

Continue with the pin curl process. Add another bobby pin going the opposite direction to make sure the curl holds. Put in the pin curls on wet hair or hair with styling product, then let dry and unfurl the curls. Do not comb out.

  5. Step 5

Think about adding ringlet curls if you don't have a lot of time to jazz up your hairstyle. Pull a strand or two of hair forward and curl it all by itself while you are dressing. Spray it while it's wound up in a curler and take out the roller just before you run out.
