When it comes to chic makeup, the look is so soft and subtle that it takes a steady hand and just the right technique to make it fabulous. However, chic is in, offering a method of makeup application that accentuates the features without overdoing the makeup. If you would like to get that fresh, clean chic look, a few simple tips can teach you how.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Foundation
  • Concealer
  • Matte eyeshadow (just lighter than skin tone)
  • Bronze eyeshadow
  • Black liquid eyeliner
  • White eyeshadow
  • Black mascara
  • Lip liner pencil (one or two shades darker than your natural color)
  • Clear lipgloss
  1. Step 1

Start with an even, well blended application of foundation that either matches your skin perfectly or is just slightly lighter. To wear a chic makeup look, do not use blush, highlighting powders or bronzers; however, it is important that your skin is soft and even. If necessary, use concealer before your foundation to hide blemishes, scars, circles under the eyes or other flaws.

  2. Step 2

Choose a matte eyeshadow that is just one shade lighter than your natural skin tone and apply as your base. The base shadow should cover the entire eye, from lash line to eye brow, and should be well blended into the skin.

  3. Step 3

Apply bronze eyeshadow from the lash line to the eye crease and then gently blend up the eye to crease a seamless look between the base shadow and the bronze. Make sure that the bronze shadow blends flawlessly into the skin at the inner and outer eye as well.

  4. Step 4

Use a black liquid eyeliner to create a very fine line that follows the lash line. Keep a steady hand, as the line should be thin, placed directly over the lashes and left unsmudged. Do not apply liner to the lower lashes.

  5. Step 5

Create the most characteristic part of a chic look by applying white eyeshadow to the lower lid from corner to corner and then gently blending into the skin. The line should be about as thick as your pinky nail, but with well-blended edges.

  6. Step 6

Remove the black mascara applicator brush from the tube and wipe off the majority of mascara. Once fairly clean, apply a very light coating of mascara to both the upper and lower lashes.

  7. Step 7

Top off your chic look with the perfect lips. Choose an lip liner pencil that is just one or two shades darker than your natural lip color and fill in your lips completely. Apply a light layer of your bronze shadow on top and seal with clear lipgloss.
