Step 1
Assess your needs. If your ATV is usually used for moving loads over rough terrain, a winch might be the only thing you need. If you hunt with it, consider a gun rack. If weekend outings are more your style, you might like a more comfortable seat with a storage compartment under it.
-
Step 2
Buy helmets for everyone who rides your ATV, whether it's driving or riding as a passenger, for safety reasons and because it's illegal to ride without one in some locations. Choose helmets with adjustable visors so you can have them down in bad weather or up for better ventilation. Use a non-fog spray on them first.
-
Step 3
Come up with a basic list of things that would be good to have in your ATV based on how you use it. No matter what you do with it, you should probably include a basic tool kit, a first aid kit, some wire, a tow rope, a flashlight and an extra can of fuel.
-
Step 4
Evaluate whether you should buy the cheapest things because they might fall apart immediately. You also don't have to buy the most expensive things. The mid-range tends to be the best value.

Step 5
Find a reputable dealer and installation expert for your built-in accessories and purchase the ones you want. Then let them make all the adjustments to your vehicle.
