Things You'll Need:
- Chinese takeout container
- Small nail
- Pen
- Razor blade knife
- String
- Birdseed
-
Step 1
Rinse the container and allow it to dry thoroughly. Use a nail to poke 10 to 12 small holes in the container bottom. The holes will let air circulate through the container so that the bird feed doesn't rot. Make sure that the holes are not so big that the seed falls through the bottom.
-
Step 2
Close the top of the container and use a pen to draw a bird doorway on one side of the container. Make sure the doorway a side without a handle. The doorway should begin about 1/2 inch from the fold of the lid, remain at least 1/2 inch from either side and extend about two-thirds of the way down the container.
-
Step 3
Cut out the doorway with a razor blade or knife. Tie a piece of string around the handle of your new bird feeder and fill the bottom with birdseed. Hang the feeder in a tree.
