Children at just about the age of four are ready to start preschool. This is a big transition for such small children after being at home with their parents or being with their child care provider day in and day out. The preschool aged child may feel sad or nervous to begin school and will need their parents to be supportive and to get them excited about their new endeavors.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin taking your preschool child to a Mommy and Me class of some sort to get them better prepared for preschool. There are such classes offered that engage preschool aged children in music, art, or playtime.

  2. Step 2

Bring your preschooler to her new preschool to visit for the day. Let your child meet some of her new classmates and teachers to get acquainted. This visit will hopefully get your child very excited to start preschool.

  3. Step 3

Start teaching your child his alphabet, rhyming games, number problems, and various educational material to get him motivated to learn more. If you present your child with these opportunities, he will be excited to seek out more answers to questions in an educational setting. This will get him excited to start preschool.

  4. Step 4

Go shopping with your preschooler to help her pick out new clothing for preschool. Let her choose some neat accessories, a lunchbox, and a new backpack for her new preschool class. The excitement of the shopping trip will get her counting down the days until school begins.

  5. Step 5

Plan some playdates with some of your child's new preschool classmates before the year begins. This will give your child something to look forward to and will get all the children to become excited for preschool.
