How to Make an Origami Inflatable Bunny

Making origami animals is fun because of all of the interesting shapes that are possible. Some of the more interesting ones are inflatable pieces. This origami inflatable bunny is a cute bit of paper-folding that's sure to delight grownups and children alike.

Instructions

Making the body

1. Take a paper square and put it down with the colored side facing you. Fold the paper in half like a book, folding left to right. Unfold. Likewise, fold the top half down to the bottom. Unfold.

2. Turn the paper over so the white side of your origami bunny is facing you. Rotate it into a diamond shape. Fold the left point over to the right and unfold. Fold the bottom point up to the top. Don't unfold this time, leave it folded.

3. Hold by the left and right corners and push together – inward – until the center lines of all four sides meet. It sounds tricky, but it's really easy in the hands-on process. You'll still have a triangle shape.

4. Flip the triangle over so the point faces upward and the "flaps" are on the bottom. Take the left corner and fold it up to the top. Do the same with the right corner. You'll now have what looks like a diagonal square in the middle of your triangle.

5. Grab the left corner of the square and fold it so the tip touches the center line of the triangle. Take the right corner and do the same. Your square now looks like it has two arms crossed in front of it.

6. Take the top left point of the square and fold it downward so the outer edge fits along edge of the left "arm." Fold it again, down and to the left, so it tucks inside the arm. Do likewise with the right side, folding it once, then again to tuck it into the right arm.

7. Flip your inflatable origami bunny over.

Making the ears

8. Fold the left edge over and even with the center line. Fold the right edge over and even with the center line. Both left and right edges should meet in the center.

9. Take the bottom left point and fold it up and to the left, so that it makes a triangle with the point downward; this will be the left ear. Take the bottom right point and fold it up and to the right, so that it makes a triangle with the point downward; this will be the right ear.

10. Take the bottom point of the left triangle and fold it over to the center line. Likewise, take the bottom point of the right triangle and fold it over to the center line. This will finish the ears.

11. Hold your inflatable origami bunny by the ears and blow in at the tip of the nose.

Tips & Warnings

• Be sure to make sharp creases as you fold. It makes later folds easier in your origami project.
