Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of rearranging one's surroundings to attract positive energy into one's life. Arranging one's surroundings in a particular way will help the positive energy, known as chi, flow without effortlessly and efficiently. With a little knowledge, anyone can decorate with Feng Shui.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get familiar with the Bagua areas: career, wealth, love/marriage, health/family, wisdom/knowledge, children/creativity, reputation/fame, helpful people and center, also known as chi.

  2. Step 2

Draw a Bagua Map of the entire home, and be sure to mark where the front door is located. The goal is to make the house into a square or rectangle shape. If the home is an L or U-shaped house, fill in the missing areas with dotted lines on the map. Next, divide the house into nine equal sections.

  3. Step 3

Familiarize yourself with the location of each Bagua area. Starting on the very bottom row, from left to right, the Bagua areas are wisdom, career and helpful people. On the second row: family, chi and children. On the final row: wealth, fame and marriage.

  4. Step 4

Place items that correspond with each Bagua area in each area of the home. For instance, place an item that represents long life, such as an elephant, in the health areas. Place a bowl of coins in the wealth areas. Keep the chi area free from clutter.

  5. Step 5

Use colors that correspond to each Bagua area. Use black, blue and brown in career areas. For wisdom, use black, blue and green. Blue and green are for health and family areas. Wealth colors are blue, red and purple. For fame, use red. Love and marriage colors are red, pink and white. For creativity and children, use white and pastels. White, gray and black are for helpful people areas. Use yellow and earth tones for chi.

  6. Step 6

Know what each color stands for. Green is for health and potential. Red is for attraction, strength and warmth, and should be used in moderation. Black is for mood and perception, and should also be used in moderation. Purple is for spiritual guidance, while pink is for love and romance and yellow is for energy and life.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the house is more than one level, the Bagua areas on the top floor should correspond to those on the bottom floor.
