The easiest way to build any type of backyard gazebo is from a kit. Kits come in a variety of styles, and most include all the hardware you'll need to complete your project. Read the contents of the box carefully, taking note of any extra tools or material required for assembly.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Lay out a tarp or other soft surface for your gazebo components. This protects the material from scratching during assembly.

  2. Step 2

Arrange the pieces in order of installation according to the assembly instructions.

  3. Step 3

Arrange your dome pieces on the tarp with all four pieces facing each other. Use the included nuts and bolts to join each quarter section to make half of the dome and then join the halves together to complete the dome.

  4. Step 4

Add any dome ornament that belongs on the top of the dome while it's still sitting down on the tarp.

  5. Step 5

Turn the dome on its side so that one of the post connection pieces is on the ground.

  6. Step 6

Attach the first post and base ring to the post connection resting on the ground. Turn your gazebo dome and post one quarter turn to attach the next post and base ring section and so on until all posts and base ring sections are in place.

  7. Step 7

Make sure all nuts and bolts are secure and then raise the gazebo into position using support from a second tarp to prevent injuries to you or marks on the gazebo. You'll need a team of helpers for this.

Tips & Warnings
  • Assemble the gazebo close to the area where you want it. Wrought iron is heavy and the less you have to move the gazebo the better.
