Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Determine where you can get access to a pole to practice your pole dancing routine. Scope out anything you can use to mimic a pole such as a basketball goal, a lamp-post, or even a stabilized shower rod in the middle of the room, the point is to find something you can use as a pole reference point.
Step2
Choose a song that you would like to choreograph your dance to; pick something that makes you feel sexy and free, but be careful to pick a tempo that you can work with and that fits your stamina level. Listen to the song once through and visualize yourself doing the sexiest possible pole dance you can think of.
Step3
Play your song of choice again and begin dancing around the pole, notice what comes out without trying too hard at first. Try simple moves like spinning around the pole, and the leg wrap but do what comes naturally to you as the music plays. Practice just walking around the pole a few times in a sensual way, allowing yourself to feel the pulse of the music.
Step4
Choreograph your routine by the sound of the music, using 8 counts in a pole dance often stifles the erotic creativity of a piece and can be a bit difficult to remember for some beginners. Integrate advanced moves like the inverted V (climbing up the pole and then flipping upside down and placing your legs in a V shape), and the pole handstand.
Step5
Feel free to spend some time in your dance away from the pole doing other sensual moves. Notice that the more simple your moves the more sensual the dance tends to be. Practice your routine several times working for consistency of when you execute certain moves.
Step6
Perform your routine for someone you trust and ask them for feedback on the consistency and fluidity of your dance. Videotape yourself doing the dance if you have no one to perform for to get a feel for how you look while performing your dance, use the videotape to critique yourself and fix any inconsistencies or sloppiness.
