Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small to medium-size mosaic box from craft shop
  • Tissue paper in gold, orange and red
  • Paper mache matte sealer
  • Decoupage fluid
  • Sponge brushes
  • Leaf stencil
  • Scissors
  1. Step 1

Paint the paper mache box with paper mache sealer, and allow it to dry.

  2. Step 2

Cut the gold and orange tissue paper into smalls squares, approximately an inch square.

  3. Step 3

Coat a small area of the paper mache box with a thin layer of decoupage fluid. Lay the pieces of tissue paper on the wet area. Continue covering small sections until the entire box is covered. Allow the decoupage fluid to dry.

  4. Step 4

Cut several leaf shapes from red tissue paper, using the stencil. Coat the paper mache box with another layer of decoupage fluid, and layer the leaves over the box. The leaves will cover some of the small tissue paper squares, giving the paper mache box an attractive layered look.

  5. Step 5

Repeat the steps with the lid, folding and tucking the tissue paper down over the edges, ending on the underside of the lid.

  6. Step 6

Finish by giving the entire paper mache box a coating of decoupage fluid to seal it and add a shiny finish, and allow it to dry thoroughly.
