How to Make an Acorn Wreath
An acorn wreath is a great way to celebrate and preserve the beauty of autumn. It creates a lovely welcome for your front door, and makes a perfect decoration for Thanksgiving dinner, or any fall get-together. Making an acorn wreath is a craft best for adults, or can be done by older kids with a bit of adult supervision.
Things You'll Need
- Straw, wicker or grapevine wreath
- Acorns
- Glue sticks and hot glue gun
- Wide ribbon in an autumn color
- Dried or silk flowers
- Autumn leaves or artificial leaves
- Raffia bow (optional)
Instructions
-
-
1
Wrap a length of wide ribbon around the wreath, leaving enough space between each wrap so the wreath will still be visible.
-
2
Plug in the hot glue gun and allow it to heat up.
-
-
3
Lay the wreath on the table and attach the bottom of an acorn to the center of the wreath with the hot glue gun. The acorn should be standing upright.
-
4
Glue a row of acorns around the wreath, and don't worry if you cover areas of ribbon. Continue gluing acorns on the wreath until the wreath is covered. Add some sprigs of small flowers or autumn leaves as you go, gluing them between and under the acorns.
-
5
Attach a raffia bow to the front of the completed acorn wreath.
-
6
Place a hanger on the back of the acorn wreath. The acorn wreath will be heavy, so be sure the hanger is sturdy.

Tips & Warnings
Be sure that you don't attach acorns in a way that keeps the wreath from laying flat.
