Many people get age spots on different places of their body. Age spots are usually flat and painless brown, black or gray spots, that look like larger freckles. These spots may develop when the skin has been exposed to the sun for many years. Fortunately, there are treatment options for age spots, such as the laser treatment method. There are few things that you must do in order to remove age spots with a laser.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Locate an appropriate physician. In order to remove age spots with laser treatment, you must visit a qualified dermatologist or age spot specialist. Your medical doctor can refer you to a dermatologist or you can check with family, friends or neighbors for recommendations.

  2. Step 2

Meet with the dermatologist or age spot specialist. The doctor discusses the laser treatment options with you and helps you select a laser method that best suits your needs.

  3. Step 3

Return to the doctor's office for your first treatment session. You may have to visit your doctor for two or more sessions in order to complete the laser treatment procedure. The number of treatment sessions depends upon the amount of age spots on your body, the location of the spots and the size of them.

  4. Step 4

Receive the laser treatments from your doctor. Your doctor numbs the area (with an anesthetic cream) before beginning the laser treatment. Next, she takes a beam of laser light and aims it at the age spot. The light passes through the skin, is absorbed by the spot and the age spot breaks up and disappears.

  5. Step 5

Follow all instructions given by your doctor. Your doctor may prescribe you an ointment to apply to the locations where the spots were removed. You must also keep the areas clean on a daily basis. Your doctor tells you when to return for your next treatment and follow-up session.
