How to Use the StumbleUpon Toolbar for Internet Explorer

StumbleUpon is one of the most useful and interesting social networking tools on the Internet. You can use the StumbleUpon Toolbar to find websites related to a specific topic, recommend websites to your friends and even promote your business. While it is available for Firefox, you can also use the StumbleUpon Toolbar for Internet Explorer.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Browse to the StumbleUpon homepage. Before you use the StumbleUpon Toolbar for Internet Explorer, you have to create a StumbleUpon account. Click on the button labeled "Add StumbleUpon to my Browser."

  2. Step 2

    Enter a StumbleUpon username, as well as the other information the page asks you for.

  3. Step 3

    Click the "Join and Download Now" button.

  4. Step 4

    Select "Run" in the "File Download-Security Warning" window, and then select "Run" in the "Internet Explorer-Security Warning" window.

  5. Step 5

    Exit Internet Explorer once the installation completes.

  6. Step 6

    Reopen Internet Explorer. You can now use the StumbleUpon Toolbar for Internet Explorer.

  7. Step 7

    Pick "Stumble" to browse to a website that StumbleUpon recommends. You can also click the "I like it!" button in the toolbar to recommend a website to other StumbleUpon members, or the "Thumbs Down" button to indicate that you don't like a website.

Tips & Warnings
  • To improve the quality of the websites that StumbleUpon takes you to, click "Tools" and then "Update Topics" on the StumbleUpon Toolbar for Internet Explorer. This takes you to the settings portion of the StumbleUpon website, where you can select which areas of interest you want to browse using the StumbleUpon toolbar.
