Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 white cotton tablecloth or large sheet of canvas or broadcloth
  • Permanent markers, fine tip
  • Fabric paint or puff paint
  1. Step 1

Fold the tablecloth in half it will be an easier size to work with, and put some newspapers between the layers so the ink won't go through to the layer underneath.

  2. Step 2

Ask every member of your family to write one thing they are thankful for with permanent markers, fabric paint or puff paint. If you have young children, you can write it for them, or they can draw a simple picture.

  3. Step 3

Turn the tablecloth over and do the same on the other side until both sides of the tablecloth are filled. Make sure both sides are dry before you use the tablecloth.

  4. Step 4

Use the tablecloth for Thanksgiving dinner and then put it away for the next year. If you like, you can making adding to it a yearly tradition.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're brave, ask your family members, (especially the young ones), to dip their hands in fabric paint and make a handprint on the tablecloth. This is messy, but creates a nice remembrance.
  • An alternate idea is to put a clean white tablecloth on the Thanksgiving table, and ask each guest to write something near their place. Keep the tablecloth and repeat the following year. The tablecloth will soon become a treasured keepsake.
