How to Use Trance Techniques in Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a powerful tool for transformation for some people. Guiding someone into deep relaxation sounds easy by typically requires a working knowledge of the brain and understanding of trance techniques used to invoke a deeply relaxed state. Following are some steps to follow to help use trance techniques in hypnosis and aide in bringing your subjects into a deeper state of relaxation and enhance the hypnotic experience.

Know that there are many different kinds of trance inducing techniques that have various benefits for different people. Do some research to discover the method that fits best with your particular hypnosis philosophy and that blends well with the subject of your hypnosis.

Start with the eye fixation technique to help induce subjects. Have the subject fixate on an object (a flame is often used) instructing them to breathe deeply and slowly slip into a relaxed state while staring at the fixed object. This helps the subject to relax and to maintain concentration which will be important for receiving hypnotic suggestion.

Try instructing the subject to utilize tension release method in which the subject is instructed to begin with their toes, tensing and releasing the muscles of the body until they have worked their way up the body. Utilize this method for those clients who are tense or have a difficult time eliminating stress from their bodies.

Guide the person through a scene of relaxation created of their own imagination, this is another popular method of trance induction used by many hypnotist. Instruct the subject to think of a relaxing place, and imagine themselves in that place. Have them explore the area all while concentrating on breathing pushing them deeper into a deeply relaxed state.

Tap the subjects forehead after you have induced a relaxed state to take them deeper into a state of relaxation, this is often used by learned hypnotist as a suggestion which controls the hypnosis experience through physical stimuli. Look for signs of deep relaxation such as a fluttering of the eyelids or limp muscle tension to indicate a trance state.

Tips & Warnings
Do a short interview with each subject to get a feel for what kind of trance technique they would best benefit from (visual people tend to benefit from guided visualization while people with high stress find realxation techniques to be more useful in inducing a trance.)
Try chakra cleansing techniques to help the person cleanse energy fields all while falling deeper into a relaxed state. This is done similar to muscle tension release but with a bit more commentary given.
Try emotional response induction by having the person remember various memories (both good and bad) and using that to place the person deeper into a subconscious state.
Do not let the person get so relaxed that they fall asleep. It's important to keep talking at a slow and steady tone so they stay alert but relaxed.
