Launching your acting career through MySpace is a challenging endeavor that takes as many hours offline as it does on. Since the entertainment industry is a business, you can't get around the way things are currently done. This means you still need to get your headshots done and compile a reel; then you can use MySpace as a tool to market your skills.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get your headshots professionally done. Print one commercial look and one theatrical look. This is the basic preparation step for marketing yourself. If you don't have them printed, don't expect to go on auditions.

  2. Step 2

Add your headshots to your MySpace page. Leave all other candid photos off your page. Your page has become a professional marketing tool for your career. To use it as such, you need to let go of anything that doesn't say "actor."

  3. Step 3

Post your credentials and acting credits on your main page or in your blog.

  4. Step 4

Upload your reel and any longer samples of your work to the "Videos" section of your page. This lets people see your acting ability, and it's free for you to use.

  5. Step 5

Spend time looking for casting agents, calling services, talent reps and anyone industry-related to become your MySpace friends. Be careful, though. The people you allow as your friends speak for what type of person you are, so select your friends wisely.

  6. Step 6

Post bulletins about where and when people can see you perform. This assumes that you're actually out there and working on getting your career off the ground. If you're not performing yet, get into an acting class, so you can at least add that to your resume and get in a casting workshop when the class ends.
