Step 1
Start by cutting the nails if needed and filing them to the shape of the finger. Filing also makes the edge of the nail smooth, so the nails aren't sharp enough to hurt. Also clean under the nail as part of this step, with an orange stick or something similar.
-
Step 2
Use cuticle remover on the fingernails, making sure to cover the entire nail and the cuticle itself.
-
Step 3
Soak the fingertips in warm, soapy water to aid in softening the cuticles. Push the cuticles back gently, then cautiously trim the dead skin from the cuticles with a cuticle trimmer. It isn't always necessary to cut the cuticles, so if you or the client prefer, just stick to pushing them back.
-
Step 4
Have the man wash his hands thoroughly to remove any excess cuticle remover. As an added treat, you can apply an exfoliant to his hands while he's at the sink. Rub the exfoliant gently into his hands to remove any dead skin, which will leave his hands feeling soft and smooth. Have him rinse his hands and dry thoroughly.
-
Step 5
Buff each fingernail to a smooth surface with just a hint of shine.
-
Step 6
Apply hand lotion and give a gentle massage to the man's forearms as well as to his hands. For most men, this is the most enjoyable part of the manicure, so take your time and leave him feeling very relaxed and pampered.

on 8/31/2009 OK. I'm asking my wife to cut my fingernails next time and of course, end with a nice hand massage.

on 7/12/2009 Very cool. It is something that is so simple, but I just needed it spelled out for me. Thanks.
