How to Make Raisin Bread
Raisin bread is a treat that is enjoyed by people for all occasions. If you like to bake then raisin bread is an easy desert to try. Raisin bread can be toasted, glazed, coated with cinnamon or eaten plain. The following recipe will make three loaves of raisin bread. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 3/4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 drop active dry yeast
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 4 cups flour
- 1 tbsp. milk
- 1/4 cup & 2 tbsp. white sugar

Warm the milk in a small saucepan until it begins to bubble. Remove from heat and let stand until the milk is warm again.

Melt the yeast in the water and put it aside until yeast is sudsy. Add the egg, sugar, butter, salt and raisins mixing until smooth.

Add the warm milk to the bowl. Begin to add the flour slowly, stirring as the dough begins to stiffen.

Remove the dough from the bowl and knead on a hard surface for a few minutes. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover and set it aside allowing the dough to rise.

Lay out the dough and keep it 1/2 inch thick. Add 1 Tbsp. of milk to moisten the dough and then pour the sugar on the top of the dough.

Take the dough, form it into a roll that is about 2 inches in diameter and slice it in half. Using greased 9 x 5 inch pans, take the dough and put it in the pans. Set the pans aside for one hour allowing the dough to rise.

Bake the loaves at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes. Remove the bread from the pans and brush them with melted butter.
