Reading is great fun, and making a special owl bookmark to mark the place in your book can be a real hoot. You can make an owl bookmark out of a few simple craft materials. Be wise...make an owl bookmark for yourself and give a few away to your friends.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Poster board or tag board
  • Brown and orange, yellow or gold construction paper
  • 1 large jar lid
  • 1 small jar lid
  • 1 flat clothespin
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • 2 googly eyes
  • White craft glue or glue stick
  1. Step 1

Use a pencil to trace around the large jar lid on the poster board or tagboard. This will be the owl's body. Trace around the small lid to make the owl's head. Cut out the circles.

  2. Step 2

Trace the same two circles on brown construction paper and cut them out.

  3. Step 3

Glue the brown circles on the matching poster board circles to make them stronger.

  4. Step 4

Cut two circles from the orange construction paper slightly larger than the googly eyes, and glue the googly eyes on the middle of the circles. Attach the eyes to the owl's head.

  5. Step 5

Cut a small triangle from the orange construction paper to create a beak and glue the beak to the owl's head, underneath the googly eyes.

  6. Step 6

Overlap the owl's head slightly over the owl's body and glue it in place. Allow it to dry.

  7. Step 7

Glue the completed owl to the clothespin and allow it to dry. Use the owl bookmark to mark your place.
