Hearts and flowers bookmarks make perfect gifts for your favorite bookworms. Make some and give them away for Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day or any time you feel like somebody deserves a special gift. Don't forget to make some hearts and flowers bookmarks for yourself too and mark your place in style.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • White poster board or tag board
  • Red and pink construction paper for hearts
  • Brightly colored construction paper for flowers
  • Fine point marker
  • Glue stick
  • Clear contact paper
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Hole punch
  • Narrow ribbon
  1. Step 1

Use the ruler and a pencil to draw a rectangular bookmark shape on the poster paper or tag board and cut it out carefully.

  2. Step 2

Draw a few small hearts on the pink and red paper, and cut them out. Draw some simple flower shapes on the brightly colored paper and cut them out too.

  3. Step 3

Glue the hearts and flowers on one side of the bookmark.

  4. Step 4

Write a greeting or a short poem on one side of the bookmark. If you prefer, cover both sides with hearts and flowers.

  5. Step 5

Put clear contact paper on the both side of the hearts and flowers bookmark and trim the edges neatly with scissors.

  6. Step 6

Punch a hole in the top of the hearts and flowers bookmark and tie a piece of narrow ribbon in the hole.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful when you buy contact paper. Translucent paper may look clear on the roll, but it isn't. Be sure the package says the contact paper is clear.
