How to Decorate a Baby Tree for a Shower

Just as Christmas trees have graced people's homes for centuries during the holiday season, so baby trees are fast becoming all the rage at showers. They're perfect as centerpieces for the gift or refreshment tables. A baby tree also calls attention to the guests of honor when placed right next to the chairs of the expectant parents.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 2 to 3 foot artificial evergreen tree with stand
  • Baby blanket or afghan
  • Small stuffed animal
  • Short strand of lights
  • 2 yards of blue or pink ribbon
  • Plastic hooks and trash bag ties
  • Pacifiers
  • Teething rings
  • Diaper pins
  • Baby ornaments
  • Miniature plastic baby bottles and carriages
Step1
Arrive at the event 45 to 60 minutes early in order to have plenty of time to set up and decorate the tree. Determine the best location and put the tree, the stand and all the other supplies there together.
Step2
Place the tree on its stand and spread the baby afghan or blanket at its base. Put the stuffed animal on the top branch and secure it with hooks or trash bag ties if necessary.
Step3
Wind the lights and pink or blue ribbon around the branches as evenly as possible. Using the plastic hooks and ties, decorate the tree with the teething rings, pacifiers, diaper pins, baby ornaments and miniatures.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure the tree is located near an electric outlet so so you can plug the lights in.
  • Don't let young children decorate or play around the tree unsupervised. This decoration has small objects they might swallow and lights that might shock or burn them.
  • Don't plug the lights in until the decorating is finished, or place them right next to curtains, wall hangings and other flammable objects.
