Writing a letter of recommendation for an Eagle Scout is a very important request. Not only is the position one in which very few young men accomplish, but you must know this individual extremely well to have been asked to write one. These letters are a little different than most letters of recommendation but the steps below will guide you through the process.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Fill out the personal information section of the letter of the recommendation form completely. Most councils have their own letter forms and the top is filled in with your personal information such as name, address, phone number, occupation, how you know the applicant and for how long.
Step2
Write a paragraph in your own words on the sheet given or on a separate piece of paper. This paragraph should detail the scout's ability in school, character and leadership abilities in both school events and athletics.
Step3
Check the box that asks if you do or do not recommend the Scout for this honor.
Step4
Explain in a short paragraph why you made this particular decision.
Step5
Place the letter in an envelope and mail it to the proper authorities.

Tips & Warnings

  • Save or make a copy of the letter in case the original is lost or comes up missing.
