How to Clean Silver
Nothing adds a more distinguished touch when entertaining than the use of silver accessories. Silver adds a touch of class that ordinary stainless steel can't. That is, unless it's covered in unsightly tarnish. Never fear--there's an easy way to rid yourself of that ugly tarnish before your guests arrive. And you can do it using common household items.

- Aluminum foil
- Hot water
- Table salt
- Baking soda
- Large pan
- Soft cloth

Measure a length of aluminum foil to cover the bottom of the pan. Place the foil in the pan.

Arrange the silver pieces on the foil so they're all touching the foil. Every piece of silver needs to touch the foil.

Heat water, enough to completely cover the silver pieces. Add a small amount of salt to the water as it's heating.

Add a cup of baking soda to the hot salt water solution.

Pour the water, salt and baking solution over the silver pieces. Make sure all the silver pieces are still in contact with the aluminum foil.

Allow the silver to soak in the solution for approximately 30 minutes. You can watch as the tarnish melts off.

Remove the silver pieces and buff them dry with a soft cloth. Notice how even the hard to reach places are now clean and tarnish free.

Tips & Warnings
This method is effective in removing the tarnish from any etched designs that are difficult to clean.
Use caution when adding the baking soda. When it mixes with the hot water, it may bubble over.
