How to Sync a PDA

Synchronizing your Windows Mobile PDA to your PC allows you install and uninstall applications, transfer files and music, and update and synchronize your Microsoft Outlook email and schedule. This allows you to take advantage and utilize your PDA to its fullest advantage.

Things You'll Need:

  • ActiveSync application
  • USB data cable
  1. Step 1

    Download the ActiveSync application from the Microsoft website. You must first install the ActiveSync application onto your desktop PC before you can synchronize your PDA.

  2. Step 2

    Install ActiveSync onto your desktop PC by clicking on the executable file that you downloaded. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the application.

  3. Step 3

    Connect a USB cable to your PDA device and your desktop PC. ActiveSync should immediately recognize that you have connected your PDA to your desktop computer. If it does not, open ActiveSync and click on the "Sync" button.

  4. Step 4

    Verify that you have synchronized with your PDA. From here, ActiveSync will allow you to install various applications, retrieve email and information, and add music and various other media to your PDA. Additionally, you can browse your PDA, create and delete folders, and transfer media from your PDA to your PC.

Tips & Warnings
  • You only need to configure ActiveSync and your PDA once. The next time you connect your PDA to your PC, all of your contact and schedule information from your PC should be updated onto your PDA device.
  • Note that you can also establish a connection via Bluetooth or Wifi. These connection settings may require additional setup.
