Step 1
Look for work in the education field. As long as there are children, they will need to be educated; therefore, it is a proven fact that a job in education is recession proof. You may not be teacher material, but there are other jobs you can do in the education field, which will make yours a recession proof job.

Step 2
Find a job in an energy related field such as gas, oil, natural energy or alternative energy.
-
Step 3
Train to be a medical assistant, physical therapist, physician assistant, home health aide, or medical records and health information technician. Any health related occupation is among the fastest growing industry in this country and considered recession proof.
-
Step 4
Get a job in security. It seems that there is more crime in a recession period, so security is a job that is recession proof. Correctional officers and police are among the jobs you can get in security.
-
Step 5
Select a job in other recession proof sectors such as information technology, sales and government. These fields have not suffered during a recession.

on 12/15/2008 Another job sector is the Barter Industry. A company like mine, Merchants Barter Exchange (www.merchantsbarter.com) is ALWAYS expanding and recruiting, because our industry is recession-proof.
The other alternative is to work for yourself/ go freelance. For more about this go to: www.barterfranchise.com
