If you have a wheat allergy or celiac disease, you need to find gluten-free cereal. The most common ingredients in gluten are wheat, rye and barley. Since there is more awareness about this problem recently, there are more gluten-free cereals on the market. The following will help you buy gluten-free cereal.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Locate stores that sell gluten-free cereals. Whole Foods is a nationwide chain that carries gluten-free cereal. Check your local supermarket, as more and more stores are stocking gluten-free cereals.
Step2
Check out the cereals you are currently eating. Look at the ingredients. You may be happy to find that they do not contain wheat. Some popular cereals, such as Rice Chex and Puffed Rice, are wheat-free.
Step3
Shop online at Gluten Solutions and Gluten Free (see Resources below) to find cereal.
Step4
Be sure you are getting gluten-free cereal. Some cereals say they are organic or wheat-free which throws people and they think they are gluten-free when they are not. Be careful to check and see if any of these ingredients are in the cereal--wheat, rye, barley or malt--if they are, the cereal is not gluten-free.

Tips & Warnings

  • Gluten-free cereals are not cheap; however, they are healthy so you may want to switch to gluten-free cereals even if you don't have too.
