After a path has been created in Adobe Photoshop CS3, you may need to select that path so you can edit or move it. The "Path Selection Tool" is used to quickly select the entire path in just a few steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start Adobe Photoshop CS3 and open an existing document that contains a path, or start a new, blank document and create a path that you want to select.

  2. Step 2

Choose the "Window" menu at the top of the Photoshop screen, and click "Paths" to bring up the Paths palette. The Paths palette shares a window with the Layers and Channels palettes.

  3. Step 3

Click on the path layer that contains the path you want to select. This will ensure that you select the correct path. The layer will become a dark gray, indicating it is selected.

  4. Step 4

Select the "Path Selection Tool" from the Photoshop toolbox on the left side of the screen. The button is depicted with a picture of a black mouse button. You may have to click and hold on the button and choose "Path Selection Tool" from the pop-up menu if a white mouse pointer appears on the button.

  5. Step 5

Click inside or on the edge of the object that has the path you want to select. The path will appear and all the path points will be black, indicating that the entire path is selected.
