How to Use the Firefox Cookie Manager

Firefox's Cookie Manager allows users to advise Firefox of their cookie preferences. It also allows users to view cookie information and manage cookies by removing one or all cookies. Use the Firefox Cookie Manager to take control of the way Firefox handles cookies.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch your Firefox browser. Select Tools and then Options from the program's menu. Choose the Privacy tab. Find the part of the panel titled Cookies.

    • 2

Choose to accept cookies from websites by checking the option. Indicate whether you want to keep the cookies until they expire or just for your Firefox session. You may also indicate whether you want to be asked your preference. Press Exceptions and enter domain names to give Firefox directions about cookies for individual websites.

View individual cookies collected by domain by pressing the + sign next to the website name and its folder. Some cookies have easily identifiable names, while others are a series of random letters, numbers and symbols.

Select a specific cookie to view information on. Once you click on a cookie, its name, content, originating domain, path, sending instructions and expiration date appear at the bottom of the Cookies panel.

    • 6

Select an action to perform on your chosen cookie. You can choose to remove individual cookies by highlighting a cookie and pressing Remove Cookies, or you can remove all cookies by selecting Remove All Cookies.

    • 7

Press Close when you're done using the Cookie Manager. Return to the original Options panel and choose OK to save your changes.
