When you're planning the construction of your pole barn, one of the first steps is determining the size and scope of the building. You also need to set the location of the pole barn. When you have the location planned, it is then time to mark the post locations for your pole barn.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Gather your blueprints or notes for constructing the pole barn. Have marking flags ready to mark your pole locations.
Step2
Determine the exactly location in your backyard where you want to build the pole barn. You should be standing at the exact spot where the pole barn should be constructed. Look to make sure the spot allows for ample room for other buildings and driveways on your property.
Step3
Put the first marking flag in the ground at the first corner where you will place the first post. Determining this spot is perhaps the most important part of marking your post locations.
Step4
Measure out the distance to the next pole location with a tape measure or measuring wheel. Place the next marker in the ground at that location.
Step5
Continue measuring and marking your post locations while using your notes or blueprints.
Step6
Compare your post markers with your notes when you are finished marking every post. You want this step to be completely correct.
