If you have wide hips, you may feel as though jeans add even more heft to your figure. In actuality, getting the right type of jeans can slim your figure and flatter the curves of your body. Several different denim styles are ideal for women with wide hips.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get a straight leg pair of jeans. You may feel tempted to buy a pair of relaxed jeans when you have wide hips. However, relaxed jeans can actually add more width to wide hips.

  2. Step 2

Consider flare or bootcut jeans. With a bottom flare, you draw attention away from the size of your hips.

  3. Step 3

Measure the inseam of the jeans you plan to purchase. When you try them on, you want them to measure as long as possible without dragging on the floor.

  4. Step 4

Select the right rise of your jeans. Both low rise and high rise jeans can look unflattering on women with big hips. You should purchase jeans with a mid-rise cut.

  5. Step 5

Purchase your jeans from stores that carry good looking jeans for wide hipped women. You'll actually find plenty of manufacturers that cater to styles for bigger hips. Shop at a department store like Macy's to pick up jeans from Calvin Klein, Levi's and Diesel.

Tips & Warnings
  • To add height and slim your hips, you should wear a high pair of heels with your jeans.
  • While trying on your jeans, make sure the crotch of the jeans doesn't sit too low. This can also make your hips look wider.
