Poofy hair causes many women hours of agony in the morning. This is especially true on humid days when styled hair frizzes up upon stepping outside. Solve this problem by following these steps to learn how to style poofy hair.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Condition your hair with a moisturizing conditioner meant for dry, frizzy hair. This will add weight to your hair, helping to prevent your hair from being too poofy. Look for conditioners that contain silicone to add moisture and prevent frizz.

  2. Step 2

De-tangle your hair while conditioning in it. Use a wide-tooth comb in the shower and de-tangle from the bottom working upwards. Be gentle to avoid breaking your hair.

  3. Step 3

Apply a silicone styling product to your hair. Hang your head upside down and blow-dry your hair with a blow drier and diffuser attachment. Scrunch your hair with your hand while blow-drying if you want to add curls.

  4. Step 4

Iron your hair with a flat iron if you want to style your poofy hair so that it's straight. Use a silicone treatment and a quality flat iron to make your hair stick straight.

  5. Step 5

Style your hair in a loose bun if you want it off the back of your neck. Pull your hair back and twist it at the nape of your neck. Secure it with a rubber band.

Tips & Warnings
  • Style your poofy hair with a comb. Hairbrushes create static electricity which creates more frizz.
  • Avoid shampoos with sodium lauryl/laureth or ammonium lauryl/laureth sulfates, as they dry out hair and make it more poofy.
