How to Use Mouse Shortcuts in Firefox

If you're a Mozilla Firefox user, you've probably come to know and love a lot of the handy features that come with this popular web browser. Some most unknown features are the shortcuts that you can use to navigate around the web and make your web browsing more user-friendly. The following mouse shortcuts can change the way you surf the web.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Go back to a previously viewed webpage by holding down "Shift" and scrolling down with your mouse wheel. You can also go forward by holding down "Shift" and scrolling up.

  2. Step 2

    Close an open tab by clicking on the middle of the tab with your middle mouse wheel button.

  3. Step 3

    Increase the size of the text on the page you are viewing by holding down the control key ("Ctrl") and scrolling down with your mouse wheel. You can also decrease the size of the text on the page by holding down control and scrolling up.

  4. Step 4

    Open a link in a new tab by clicking on the link with the middle mouse wheel button. Open a link in a new window by holding down the shift key and left clicking on the link.

  5. Step 5

    Use the Firefox mouse shortcut to scroll line by line if you don't have a mouse with a line by line scrolling wheel. To do this, hold down the "ALT" while scrolling.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have a two-button mouse with no scrolling mouse wheel, you can emulate the click of the mouse wheel button by clicking both the left and right mouse buttons at the same time.
