How to Rip Paper

Sometimes it is necessary to destroy information that you have on paper. If you are at work, you probably have a recycle bin or a shredder to get rid of unwanted paper, but at home, you may not have these. Therefore, you need to be able to get rid of unwanted paper by ripping it into pieces that are small enough that no one will put it back together.

Instructions

1. Gather all the paper you need to rip and put it into a pile. It's better to try to get it done in one session so you won't have to do it again for a while. You can store unwanted paper in a drawer or box until you are ready to rip the paper.

2. Select a few pieces of paper to rip at a time. You don't want to have too much paper or you won't be able to rip it. So select a half a dozen sheets, and hold them in both your hands.

3. Hold the paper between your thumb and fore finger to get the right balance to rip the paper. It doesn't matter if they are straight in your hands--remember you are just going to rip them.

4. Pull your hands in opposite directions and the paper will rip in half. If this is too difficult, you have too much paper. Decrease the amount until you can rip the paper without any trouble.

5. Put one stack of the paper down and take the other half in both hands and repeat Step 4. Continue to do this until you have the paper ripped to the size you want and then place them into your wastebasket or recycle bin.

6. Continue until you rip the paper to the size you want it to be, and your mission is complete.

Tips & Warnings

• If you can afford a shredder, it will make the job of ripping the paper much easier.

• You can also apply this method to ripping stories or coupons out of a paper. The difference is that you want to rip a specific item, so be sure not to tear the story or coupon when you are ripping the paper.

• You can also use scissors to rip the paper.
