How to Make Holy Water for an Exorcism

Holy water has been prayed over and blessed, usually by a priest. Many churches make holy water each week to use in upcoming church services. Holy water is also made the Saturday preceding Easter, and is typically reserved for baptizing new believers into the Christian faith. However, holy water can be used for other events. Read on to learn how to make holy water for an exorcism.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate a source of living water. Living water is water that is moving and free of man-made chemicals. Look for living water at a natural spring or waterfall.

    • 2

Collect the living water in a clear glass jar. Before you use the jar, boil it so it's sanitized. Try not to touch the inside of the container.

    • 3

Add kosher salt to your living water. Salt is thought to be the preservative that protects man from evil.

    • 4

Ask a local priest to bless your water to turn your living water into holy water. Many believe the blessing can be performed by a church deacon or elder; but if you want to use it for an exorcism, a priest or a bishop would be preferable.

    • 5

Pray over the blessed holy water and ask God's presence and protection immediately prior to the exorcism.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure the exorcism prayer of St. Michael is said during the exorcism process. While some say a lay person of strong faith can perform this prayer, most agree it should be done by an ordained pastor or priest.

  • The rite of exorcism can only be performed by specific members of clergy in the church. Contact your local religious leadership to find out who is qualified to perform an exorcism in your area.
