Instructions

Annoy the friend by taking too long to call them back and forgetting to meet them when you have plans together. Make it apparent that you are making no effort in the friendship and have little interest in it.

    • 2

Stop calling the person. Make the friend put out all of the effort if they want to see you. When they call and want you to come by, tell them they have to come to your home instead. Be unavailable whenever possible. If the friend doesn't know that you aren't busy, come up with a reason why you can't do anything that day or in the next few days.

Be boring. Talk a lot about what you ate for breakfast and how your shoes are fitting. Any topic that keeps your friend's eyes glazed over is appropriate for this purpose. After several conversations about the topics, your friend will likely want to get rid of you.

Tell your friend that you no longer have time for a friendship. You can say that your schedule has changed, you have new goals in life or whatever it takes for her to understand that you no longer want to be friends. Try to avoid hurting her feelings if possible. But, if she simply will not go away, it may be necessary to be rude in order to end the friendship.

Yeah, it is definitely hard to end a friendship that you just aren't interested in anymore. I have tried to get rid of people twice and it left me looking like the bad guy. People don't want to believe that it is possible for someone to just not like him or her. I think that it is often better to have the person you no longer like end the friendship. Because even though they are ending the friendship, it gives you the result you were seeking without having to actually hurt that person's feelings.
