How to Install Windows Vista Ultimate From a Vista Basic Installation Disk

There are many versions of windows but the latest version is called Vista. Windows Vista Ultimate is the most complete edition of Windows Vista and you can utilize all of its advanced features. Vista Ultimate has the power, security, the mobility features and all the entertainment features too. Read on to learn how to install Windows Vista Ultimate from a Vista basic installation disk.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Purchase a Windows Vista Home Basic installation disk or any other version. The home basic is the most inexpensive of them all. Insert the windows disk into your computer's CD drive and it will begin to load on its own.

  2. Step 2

    Look for the installation window to appear, and click "Install Windows Vista." You will have to do some configuring after the installation is complete. You will get a prompt to type in your product key code, skip it and click "Next."

  3. Step 3

    Choose the version of Windows Vista you would like to install, select "Ultimate" and click "Next."

  4. Step 4

    Notice that Vista will start installing. This will take a while and your computer will reboot itself several times. Allow yourself enough time to finish the install in one sitting.

  5. Step 5

    Watch for Vista to start up for the first time, you will be prompted to choose a user name, computer name, user picture and your desktop background. Make your selections and you'll be asked to wait a little longer for Vista to do several checks such as your computer's performance.

  6. Step 6

    Acknowledge the notification of installation completion. Now you have available to you all the features of Windows Ultimate.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use this program no more than 120 days without activation. At the command prompt type "slmgr -rearm" to reset the counter back to 30 days. You can do this a maximum of three times. You must purchase a valid product key to successfully activate Windows.
