Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Deli ham
  • Bacon strips
  • Sausage patties
  • Scrambled eggs
  • Fruit pie filling
  • Almond extract
  • Cook and serve vanilla pudding mix
  • Spices
  • Flavored extracts
  • Crushed cornflakes
  • Honey
  • Whipped cream
  • Berries
  • Nuts
  1. Step 1

Use French toast to make tasty breakfast sandwiches. Prepare the French toast according to your preferred recipe, and fill with deli ham, bacon strips, sausage patties or scrambled eggs.

  2. Step 2

Sweeten French toast with your favorite fruit pie filling. Apple and blueberry pie filling go well with French toast, but you can also use a can of cherry pie filling with ½ tsp. of almond extract added.

  3. Step 3

Soak French toast in a mixture of eggs, milk, and "cook and serve" vanilla pudding mix. The vanilla pudding mix will caramelize into a crispy-sweet coating when you sear the slices on your griddle.

  4. Step 4

Add spices or flavored extracts to your French toast batter of milk and eggs. You can use allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla extract, rum extract or orange extract.

  5. Step 5

Make a crunchy coating for your French toast slices by dipping them in crushed cornflakes after you soak the slices in the batter. Drizzle the cooked slices with honey.

  6. Step 6

Top your French toast slices with whipped cream and fresh berries. If berries aren't in season in your area, frozen blueberries or raspberries make good substitutes.

  7. Step 7

Pair French toast with nuts for added crunch and Omega-3 fatty acids. After soaking French toast in your batter mixture, sprinkle with pecans or walnuts. Cook the French toast in a baking dish in the oven at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes; the roasting process enhances the flavor of the nuts.
